Cathepsin D is the enzyme, naturally found in human skin. Its function is to cause corneum to shed. Cathepzyme contains a cathepsin D analogue that is shown to increase exfoliation rates by 50% when used two to three times a week over a 3 month period without causing any sensitivity and without any risk to even the most sensitive skin. Cathepzyme 2 contains double the concentration of Cathepsin D, so has more exfoliation activity the Cathepzyme 1. Both are ideal for sensitive skin or skin that cannot tolerate or is contra-indicated in the use of AHA’s or Retinoids for home exfoliation.
